so....
on my way to work this morning, I noticed a weird car noise pulling out my driveway. I turned my stereo down (beatles were playing) and listened intently for any unusual or unfamiliar sounds. Seemed alright so I hopped on the interstate and went to work. At 12:45 I get an email from workforce management stating that there was a silver Mazda Protege in the parking lot that had its rear passenger tire flat. I was sitting at my friend Michelle's desk when the email came and she says "hey, your car has a flat tire" which is the same thing she says every time we get those emails. I'm all, "yep". It wasn't til later that she realized I was serious...it was my car. that sucked. my first plan was to change it myself on my break. so i went out there feeling all uber independent and tough. i was intent to kick that tires ass. but alas, the lugnuts were rusted tight seeing as how someone stole the hubcap cover a few months after I moved to Omaha. So I went back to my desk to develop a new plan. The boyfriend couldn't come rescue me. Or he could...but I didn't want to ask him too. He had pulled an all nighter on a freelance gig and hadn't slept a wink. So he had just gotten off work and was now sound asleep at home. so the previously mentioned coworker called in her husband as reinforcements. that was very nice of her and him. they're my heroes. so this wasn't really the main part of this story. that was just the lead up into the next part. (what im saying is....this is where it gets good goes bad) I was walking out the building with the coworker and there is a lady with her two children standing outside giving away free black lab puppies. they couldn't have been older than 9 weeks old. I didn't know what to do. we'd been talking about getting a dog, but we wanted to wait and get the yard under control and the fence patched where it needed patching. she only had two boys left and mateo wants a girl doggie. We are right in the middle of painting all the rooms...the timing was just off by about two weeks. but at the same time, these dogs were adorable. and free. and exactly the kind of dog I was wanting. and here it was, delivered right in front of me with a big sign saying "THIS IS THE DOG YOU WERE MEANT TO GET". And I didn't listen. I sat there calling people and trying to figure out what to do while two people came in and made the decision I couldn't make. I cried the whole way home. it was just a really sad day.
